We're the Dyslexic Sisters

So me and my sister, Heidi McManus, are sitting at the hospital, basically watching mama sleep off the anesthesia, and we decided to go down to the lobby, to the coffee bar. ( Neither of us are good at hospital sitting). We get to the elevator, which is right in front of the nurses station. We stop in front of the elevator and we both are looking for the up and down arrow buttons but there are none. Heidi says "Where are the buttons to push?" I looked at the panel and there are no arrows. I say" I don't know. I guess you just wait until the elevator comes and you get on." I looked behind me and noticed a nurse at the desk overhearing our conversation. I smiled at her.

"Well how does it know if you want to go up or down ? " my sister asks. We ponder that for a moment. I said " I guess you just ride it wherever. "
Can you tell we needed coffee or food ?
There are 2 silver circles on the panel. She says " What does this do?" And before I could tell her that those are probably discs covering the screws that hold it on the wall, she pushes the top one and the elevator doors opened. I looked back at the nurse, who was trying not to laugh, and I said, " We're the Dyslexic Sisters!" With that we gracefully got in the elevator and rode it down. This was not the funniest thing that happened this morning but that's not my story to tell. She's kill me if I tell that one! Lol

The Ron Paul Blimp Incident

Who remembers Ron Paul?

He ran for President in 2008. He traveled in a blimp from city to city to campaign.

The January morning he landed at the Savannah Airport,

I was on my way from Bloomingdale to Port Wentworth, to pick up my daddy and take him to a Dr. appt.

We have to go thru the airport to get there. The road takes a weird winding route thru the airport and Gulfstream's many properties.

My youngest son was with me and at that time, and he was fascinated with blimps.

Just as we made the big curve, there was a field over to the right, where blimps quite often landed,

(there's a Gulfstream building there now. )

It was very windy that morning and just as we made the curve, my son looked out of the back window and very calmly said, " Mama, that blimp is about to hit us."

Not sure I heard him right, I replied "huh"?

Sure enough, about the time I got that out of my mouth, the blimp was coming into view right above the car windshield. I probably could have stuck my hand out the window and touched it. I ran off the road into the gravel and stopped, trying to stop my heart from beating so fast!

I stopped and got out and noticed a white truck behind me, A man had got out too.

"Are you alright"? he asked.

"I think so", I replied

Andrew was thrilled, looking at the blimp so close up.

"I think the pilot almost lost it when that gust of wind blew him off course and he almost landed on your van", the man said.

We stood there a while, watching as a film crew from the local news station came rolling by. They must have just missed the near accident.

We thought sure someone from the campaign team would walk over and see if we were alright, but no one did.

"Well, the man said, "I gotta get to work.

"Yeah, I said, I've got get somewhere, too.

Andrew and I got back in the van and drove on over to daddies' house.. He started in fussing because we were running late.

"Well, Pee Pa ", Andrew said, "We are late because we almost made the news !

Mama's tissue box

Mama told me that last night a nurse was going thru her stuff.

She picked up a tissue box and asked her what was inside.

Mama said "Kleenex".

Then the nurse picked up the second tissue box and stuck her hand in it and started fumbling around in it.

The nurse asked her "Well, What's in this box?"

Mama said " the snotty ones!"

She said the nurse could not get her hand out of the box fast enough!

She said "It serves her right for plundering in my stuff !"

Plumbing woes

 Linda Hunt Purvis

It's been a LONG weekend!

Finally got the toilet in and the water back on at my mom's!

We replaced bathroom floor and sink cabinet.

We have to go back and finish the sink and get it hooked back up,

but the water is on and she can get a bath.

Thanks to my handy husband, Wayne, my sons, Rob and Andrew,

 and my cousin, Ritchie!

Thank you all!  You Rock!

Hazelnut Mac and cheese

My hubby, poor thing, had dental surgery Thursday.

His mouth is still sore so yesterday afternoon,

he made himself some microwave mac-n-cheese.

It turned out a little watery, so he wanted to put some parmesan cheese in it to thicken it up.

I told him I had put the rest of the parmesan in a small container with a white lid.

He said he couldn't find one with a white lid, did I mean a blue lid?

I said yes ,maybe.
Well, a couple of hours later, I went into the kitchen and realized what happened.

I asked him how the mac-n-cheese tasted.

He said it was a little sweet but he ate it anyway.

I told him wrong.

It was Hazelnut coffee creamer in the container with the blue lid.

Maybe I shouldn't tell him. lol
