Another time, I worked in toys and as we were a 24 hour store, we often had to cover several departments when we worked night shift. So this particular evening, I was also covering pets. Now what I know about tropical fish, wouldn't fill a thimble. I don't eat them and I don't raise them. Fish are smelly and slimy.
The department manager had shown several of us where the price was located on the tank and how to bag and mark them.Mainly what I remembered was that gold fish were 29 cent and she sold lots of them.
So all that evening I stayed pretty busy selling goldfish .
I soon realized that the same man was returning over and over for the funny looking goldfish. I probably sold him 100 or more . I thought he was really into fish or something. I should have realized that something was "fishy", when I sold him the last of those funny looking goldfish.
Finally , a cashier, who knew more about fish than I did, came back and asked me some questions.
Then a manager came and asked me some more.
That's when I found out that I had been selling those bug eyed, bulgy headed ones for 29 cents , when I should have been charging $3.00 each !
Hey they were GOLD fish.
They were all GOLD!

Man! This sounds so much like our store, it's pathetic. With the exception that we don't have live fish. I wish we did, though, because I like to stock my ornamental pond with cheapo goldfish and now have to drive 30 miles if I want any.
